Sharpe Heads For The Throne

English Sharpe actor Sean Bean, the also played Boromir in Lord of the Rings has been reported to have been cast in the lead role in the HBO planned series ‘A games of Thrones’ based on George RR Martin popular ‘Song of Fire and Ice’ series of fantasy books.

No date has been set for the pilot as yet, and there is no promise that HBO will commit to a full series either, but with an impressive cast list headed up by Bean, this project is definitely being taken seriously.

Sean bean has been cast in lead role of Eddard Stark, who is a Lord who finds himself acting as advisor to the ruthless royal family. Other cast members already confirmed to feature in the Pilot include Kit Harrington, Jack Gleeson, Harry Lloyd, and Peter Dinklage, with more key roles still to be announced.

The series is been adapted and produced by David Benioff and Dan Weiss. David Benioff has recently suggested a ‘crappy’ tagline for the project could be, “The Sopranos in Middle-earth”, which must get you thinking. If the series is true to the books plot elements should contain a spot of conspiracy, child murder, incest, corruption, conspiracy, a rival claimant to the throne across the sea, the still-festering legacy of a civil war 20 years before, a growing threat in the North and did I say conspiracy? We will see a show which is much grittier than previous fantasy adaptations Sean Bean has starred in.

Production will begin in Northern Ireland in October 2009, at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast and has the support of the northern Irish government. It is also likely that the BBC will have a financial involvement in the same way they did in HBO’s Rome series.

Sean Bean shot to fame as the character Major Richard Sharpe, the ITV series of Sharpe TV films in the early 90’s, Was made world famous in the role of Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films, but has also stared in many other Hollywood films such as Ronin, Patriot Games and Troy.

Sean Bean shot to fame playing Major Richard Sharpe in the TV adaptation of Bernard Cornwell Sharpe books, the first of which was Sharpe’s Eagle.

Headshot Tips For Actors

When you are an actor, you are gonna need a headshot.

Numerous talent agencies have contracts with photographers and can direct you right to their studio. But if that’s the course you choose be prepared to spend a minimum of a couple hundred dollars. Headshots are a necessity for every actor. Photographers know that. They will charge you as much as they can get away with. And then on top of that you have to duplicate the finished product some hundred instances, particularly in case you are auditioning several times a week. When an actor auditions, he hands over the headshot to the casting director, and he never gets it back. It’s at all times a good idea to own lots of copies, increased copies than you think you’ll need is adequate.

So what’s the secret to a superb headshot? Before you even get into the photo studio there are one or two pointers to remember:

Since the photo is going to be in black and white its probably not a fantastic idea to wear black and white clothes as it may be too bold. Colors just like blue, red, or green display up very consistently with the grayscale matte. Strong shades are incredibly easier on the eye than stripes or prints.

* Extreme make-up isn’t needed, however when you do choose to wear make-up, a light foundation evenly covering the face may possibly make you glance nicer. Really do not coat your face with it. In case you are blessed with lots of freckles, really do not cover them up. Directors know the miracles of make-up and in case you are cast plus the freckles have to go they will take needed steps. On the other hand, your freckles can provide you with just the character they’re looking for.

* Should you ordinarily wear your hair straight, don’t curl it up, and vice versa if you have naturally curly hair-don’t straighten it.

* Smile. It does not need to be cheesy, it does not have to be angry, it just has to be you. A fine glimpse of your teeth also displays the casting director what you have got in there. If you’ve got braces, crooked teeth, a great gap inside the center, smile anyhow. Really do not hide things.

* Don’t be a fashion model. Steer clear of flipping the hair, leaning your chin on your arm, or any other form of prop. The directors want to see a straight head shot, they don’t want to see you being cute or knock dead dazzling, these people want to discover you.

* By no means use soft focus or particular lighting techniques. The basic key, fill and back lights with the studio ought to be all you need.

* Be sure you’re using a uncomplicated, non-distracting backdrop. White or black are not recommended, however some pros will make it glance great. Most common are off-white, gray, light blue or any color that comes through having a gentle gray tone. In case you are taking the photographs outside, again be sure there is nothing distracting to the eye within the background. A headshot’s background will probably be mostly from focus anyway.

So where can you get yourself a headshot taken that’s likely to basically get you function?

As you get your headshot or comp card made up, make sure you find a really good pro head shot photographer in Manhattan or LA, and find some great headshot photos that you want to use as an example.

Actor Sean Bean who played Major Richard Sharpe will be joined by Lean Hedely of The Sarah Connor Chronicles fame, in HBO’s ‘A games of Thrones’ which is based on George RR Martin popular ‘Song of Fire and Ice’ series of fantasy books. Lean Hedley is due to be playing the role of queen everyone loves to hate-Cersei Lannister

They will be joined by Mark Addy, Jennifer Ehle, Peter Dinklage, Tamzin Merchant, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau , and Iain Glen, as well as a few lesser known actors who have been confirmed for the pilot. No Firm date has been set for the pilot, and there is not yet a promise that HBO will commit to a full series either, but with an impressive cast list headed up by Bean and Hedly, HBO is definitely taking this project seriously.

The cast is already exciting, but some of the casting is still to be announced and unconfirmed but heavily rumoured casting of Rory McCann as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane.

The show is been adapted and produced by David Benioff and Dan Weiss. David has suggested a ‘crappy’ tagline for the project could be, “The Sopranos in Middle-earth”, which can only set the imagination racing. With plot elements that will contain spot of conspiracy, incest, child murder, corruption, conspiracy, a rival claimant to the throne across the sea, the still-festering legacy of a civil war 20 years before, a growing threat in the North and did I mention conspiracy?

Production of the pilot will begin in Northern Ireland in 26th October 2009, at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast and has the support of the northern Irish government. It is also likely that the BBC will have a financial involvement in the same way they did in HBO’s Rome series.

HBO has a strong history of producing great television drama, and with the strength of the source material, the cast and HBO’s pedigree. I think we can look forward to a truly exciting proposition.

House M.D.’ Season 5 on DVD

The verdicts are variable for Season 5 of House, M.D., which is now out on DVD. Whether they enjoyed Season 5 or not, viewers of the program agree that it was different. For instance, Cameron and Chase were not featured as heavily, and some audience members felt that the season was “cheesier” than other seasons.

Those that liked Season 5 report that the episodes connect with the audience better than in other shows, and that the fan learns more about how House’s is impacted by his personal demons. The overriding sentiment is that if Hugh Laurie is in the program it will continue to be a complex, smart television series. Even doctors who watch House, M.D. say that in spite of its sensationalistic presentation, the series is very entertaining and does give the audience an idea of the difficulties a physician goes through when trying to make a difficult diagnosis.

Fans who were rather disappointed by House M.D. Season 5 complain that the writing varies in quality: the season commences strongly, goes through some boring episodes in the middle, then picks up steam during the last third of the season. An element that did not entertain many watchers was what they saw as a blatant and clumsy way of planting the seeds of a P.I. spinoff prlogram by utilizing a character that was not necessary to the season. Other complaints were that the episodes were less enthralling and that uneven writing brought House’s trademark biting wit to cross the line into unneeded shock value sometimes.

The 24 episodes making up Season 5 allow personal and workplace boundaries to shift repeatedly among the main characters. Guest appearances in Season 5 include eljko Ivanek, Mos Def, and Carl Reiner. The DVD collection features extras covering new phases of Dr. Cuddy’s life, how the program is cast, and the level of accuracy in the stories. The DVD set also contains a 100th episode appreciation, and extra explanation for the episode about the patient suffering from the “locked-in syndrome.”

Between those viewers who were enthusiastic about Season 5 and those who were less satisfied, the vast majority say they still enjoy the show very much and are breathlessly awaiting House, M.D., Season 6.
